Big Orange Welcome (BOW) is your opportunity to engage with the UT community both on-campus and online. From January 16 through February 27, there will be required and optional events for you to attend, all geared at helping you become a successful Volunteer.
We will have our entire 6-week schedule released on the Vol Life App in early January 2021. More instructions on how to access the schedule on the app will be sent out closer to Big Orange Welcome.
We encourage you to attend as much as possible, even after classes begin. You’ll meet and interact other new and current students, engage with faculty and staff, and get acclimated to campus, ALL at the same time.
BOW is for all first-year students. You will be joined by other New Vols, and second semester New Vols.

Any first-year can attend BOW. While all new incoming students have required events they must attend, most of our events are open to all first-year students. Make sure to check out our schedule on the Vol Life App for more details.
Our office wants to maintain the safety of our students as we return to campus. We are also working to create a safe environment in compliance with both CDC and University guidelines. Currently, we are expecting Big Orange Welcome activities to be a mix of in-person and virtual opportunities to meet our students at their level of comfort. As CDC and University guidelines change or expand, our office will make the necessary changes for the safety of our Volunteer community.
Big Orange Welcome is Phase 3 of your New V.O.L. Experience. For new incoming students, there are required events. However, not all events are required. Check out the schedule on the Vol Life App to find out which events are required and plan accordingly to make sure you can attend.
